About

Imperial Emporium Sound Options started as a small tape label, but has become really a title for any production work I do.

My name is Jeff France and I have been making music since the early nineties. My first recording experiments were done on a Panasonic tape deck with RCA inputs using adapters to multiply tracks. My first band recordings were done on a Tascam 488. Later on I got an Akai DPS 16 from a friend and did my first digital recordings on that.

I spent most of my career working for the effects pedal manufacturer EarthQuaker Devices. While there, I oversaw production as well as marketing jobs for them. I edited videos and was the sound engineer for the company demos and marketing material like their EarthQuaker Sessions. These were in studio and on location shoots of live performances by all kinds of bands. (Low, The Beths, Envy, etc…)

My studio now uses a standard DAW and interface design as well as a Tascam 388 for Analog recording when requested.

I mostly do mixing and mastering work for people at this time, but love to do all kinds of projects and I am setup to do tracking in house and on location, and it’s always a good time. Most of the animation and video work I do is more experimental. Check out my portfolio for some examples if you're curious.
